Deafblind Communicators are sometimes referred to as LSP (Language Service Professional) - Deafblind Manual professionals. These communicators are there to help deafblind people communicate. They spell out messages on the hands of deafblind people using the deafblind manual alphabet.

Deafblind Communicators are expected to relay non-verbal information such as the reaction to what has been said and what other people are doing.

Signature offers training and qualifications for those wanting to learn how to become a deafblind communicator. There are many different courses available with Level 3 being required to register as a LSP – Deafblind Manual professional. As many people wanting to book a deafblind communicator will look to a register for a professional, registration is usually a good way to gain recognition and work. The National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) is an example of a register in the UK for such professionals.
